I HAVE A DREAM

My 8 year old son came home from school yesterday telling me that a student in his class was throwing pencils at their substitute teacher and calling her the “F word”. When I asked what the teacher did to correct and discipline that behavior, he said she didn’t do anything. This breaks my heart. This is not isolated behavior, but things like this have been happening in our local public school for years now.

We have four kids. Currently, two of them are enrolled at Heritage Christian Academy and they are having a fantastic experience! Two of our kids are enrolled at our local public elementary school. They hear cussing everyday. They see fights all the time. Teachers are disrespected. It’s a mess to be honest.

I have a dream to be able to send all four of my kids to Heritage Christian Academy. But it’s EXPENSIVE! Currently, there is no way that we could afford to send all four kids there.

So here is what Kristin and I are doing: we are praying everyday that God would make a way for us to be able to send all four of our kids to Heritage Christian Academy. It doesn’t seem possible, but with God, all things are possible!

But I’m not just going to sit back and “just pray.” Here’s what else I am doing: I am going to be starting a “side hustle” to make some extra money. I need to make about an extra $24,000 next year to be able to afford to send all four kids to Heritage. I’m still going to be a full time, 40 hour-a-week pastor, but the goal is to work an extra 10-15 hours a week to try and make the extra $450-500 a week we would need to send all four kids to Heritage.

I’ll be doing this in two ways:

• As a guest preacher/speaker. Since our church meets at 4 PM on Sunday afternoons, I have availabilities to speak on Wednesday nights, Saturday nights, and Sunday mornings. • With a new creative services company called Vision Creative Service.

So that’s my dream- to be able to give all four of my kids a safe, loving, Christian education. To make that happen, I’m going to pray fervently and hustle hard, and trust that God will make a way.
